Big White Shredding Wedding – Aviva Studios Kelowna Wedding and Portrait Photography

For all you ski lovers out there, you probably know that last weekend was the last chance this season to get out on the slopes. I got to get up to the hill, but no skiing for me… instead I got to photograph a fantastic wedding up at the hill. Mark and Laura love to ski and spend a lot of time up at Big White together so they thought it would be the perfect place to get married and they were right. The weather as you probably know is anything but predictable up at Big White and Laura and Mark truly lucked out. Their ceremony started at 3 pm and it was blowing and snowing right until it started and within a few minutes of the ceremony starting – it cleared into the most amazing day! I got some great shots with the help of Carolyn Carson (I love shooting with her!) and it was such a blast. Thanks again to Mark and Laura for having me there!

John and Kim – Aviva Studios Okanagan / Kelowna wedding and portrait photography

This summer I get to photograph Kim and John’s wedding at the beautiful Eldorado Hotel for the ceremony and Manteo Resort for the reception – two fantastic venues! Last week, while on a visit to the Okanagan we got a chance to shoot some engagement photos. It was a little chilly but worth it! Thanks guys and I look forward to your big day!

Dahmi Family Portrait Session – Aviva Studios – Kelowna Photographer

I am the youngest of 6 children in my family and I love the relationship I have with my siblings. It’s a bond that is beyond words. They are a witness to my life and a huge source of support for me and for that I am grateful.
I loved being able to photograph the Dahmi children (ok they aren’t really children technically!) because I love seeing the interaction between them. Working with grown siblings always a lot of fun for me – thank you to the Dahmi family for the fun session! This session took place at Father Pandosy in Kelowna BC.

I love fall portraits. It is a crazy time around here in the fall and it seems I never get the sessions posted until the winter (or in this case it’s almost spring!) Where does the time go!

I love love love fall! Honestly it’s my favorite time of year. I love the fall colors, bundling up in my fall sweaters and all the great tastes that come at harvest time. Most of all thought I love the scenes that surround me here in Kelowna and the Okanagan. There’s so much to work with I just get so excited about all of it!

Well, after a lot of request I’m finally excited to announce the first workshop for moms (and dads) with cameras who want to learn how to take better every day photos of their kids.
So you have a great new camera with all the bells and whistles. No more point and shoot… only problem is you have no idea how to use it and so you just keep it on automatic mode!
I’m excited to finally offer a workshop that is designed for all you mums out there (and dads too!) to help you learn your camera and how to use it to it’s full potential.
There is always a time for professional photos – a chance to get dressed up and show your family at their best but I also know there are a ton of every day moments – your daughter playing dress up, their first day back to school, your son who fell asleep upside down on the sofa and all there other moments that deserved to be captured the best way possible. This workshop will help you become more comfortable with your camera and allow you to take great images – anywhere – anytime!
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for all women who want to learn how to take great photos of their kids in everyday life.
The class is not restricted to women only. If you are a dad and would like to join us, please do!
It is strongly recommended that you have a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex – which is a camera with interchangeable lenses) when you attend the workshop however it is not absolutely necessary. I do have an extra camera body that can be shared should someone like to use it.
Who this workshop is not for;
If you already understand the basics of photography and can consistently take properly exposed and creative photos.
If you are thinking of starting your own photography business this workshop is not for you as I won’t be discussing the business of photography, advanced photography skills or photoshop techniques.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
* Learn how to get your camera off ‘auto mode’ by understanding the exposure triangle (ISO, Shutter speed, Aperture).
Learn how to utilize natural light and turn your flash off!
Understanding composition and how it effects the feel of your picture.
Lens overview – the differences between lenses, choosing the best lens
* 10 Tips on getting natural and candid photograph’s of your children.
You will then put your new knowledge to use with a little photo shoot! If the weather co-operates, we’ll take our camera’s outside for a bit too!
