I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the McCook family at their beautiful family getaway on Shuswap Lake this past August long weekend. This is a family full of love. I could see it in everyone and it was such a pleasure being with them that afternoon. Like most families they all live in different areas so it was a special time for everyone to be together. I’m so happy to have been able to photograph them all together. What a fantastic family!

And talk about good luck – we started the portrait session a bit early and JUST as we finished the clouds rolled in and it rained HARD! I love when that happens – it was perfect timing!

LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER FOCUSES LENS ON FOOD BANK

Helping the Kelowna Food Bank this fall is as easy as getting your picture taken!

Elizabeth and Mike Soergel of Aviva Studios will be kicking off a new fundraiser next month called “Christmas in September”. The event will be held September 25th and 26th, 2010. It’s a weekend for families, couples and individuals to have professional portraits taken in support of the Kelowna Food Bank.

“I’m really excited about this project,” said Soergel. “It’s a great way for us to get into the spirit of giving early while providing the community with a great opportunity to support our local food bank”.

All participants will receive a 1/2 hour studio portrait session with Aviva Studios and a set of 25 custom Christmas Cards for only $50. when you donate a bag of non-perishable food items for the Kelowna Food Bank. Items that are always in demand are baby food, tuna, canned meat and soup just to name a few.

“We currently provide help to approximately 40,000 people a year through our location, and 40% of those are children”, say Rob Weller, operations manager at the Food Bank. “Projects like Christmas in September are a great way to help maintain the levels we require to support these needs”.

Space is limited for the “Christmas in September” event as is the beautiful Okanagan summer sun so call now to reserve your space and be part of this great weekend.

Nina & Moe – Aviva Studios Kelowna and Vancouver Wedding and Portrait Photography

A few weeks ago I was able to photograph Nina and Moe’s wedding in Vancouver. We had the perfect day (just a little bit of cloud!) and a bunch of fantastic people! I had a great time working with them and taking some fun photos of their wedding day. They got married in Stanley Park and their reception happened at Seasons in the Park (LOVE their food!!!) It was a great day had by all!!!

I’ve said it before but truly I love being able to photograph kids year after year and to see how they change. Meet adorable little Laura… I photographed her last year for my book “Children of the Okanagan” and a year later I see that she is just getting cuter! This little angel is full of personality and I had a blast photographing her!

Last weekend we held the Dog Days of Summer event and we not only raised hundreds of dollars for the SPCA but we also had a lot of fun doing it! We photographed lots of dogs and their owners and the weather was perfect. We want to thanks everyone who had portraits taken of their pets to support our fundraiser for the Kelowna SPCA. Here are some images from the sessions.

Family Portraits with Candace and Jon – Aviva Studios Kelowna Wedding and Portrait Photography

Here are some photos of a recent family session I did with Candace, Jon and their two beautiful children. The weather threatened rain the whole time but it turned out to be perfect. The photos were done in their back yard which is great and that always makes things easy for everyone. I think they turned out great and I look forward to showing them all of the images from the shoot.
